Globetrotting acoustic guitarist, singer and songwriter Amber Liadan has now made her home in Warwickshire where her unique and passionate music is building up a strong fan base.
Sunday 13 October sees Amber and her band as headliners for CVFolk’s ‘Second Sunday’ studio concert in Coventry’s Albany Theatre, to add to her current run of well-received home-run gigs.
Just returned from South Africa – where she and her lead guitarist Phil Moffett got married – Amber performed in Redditch this weekend and will be appearing at the renowned Fiddlers Elbow venue in London soon after her Coventry show.
Last year saw her capturing the hearts of the Shipston Proms audience when she won the event’s ‘Introducing Competition’ and opened the main stage for the final evening of the festival.
Daughter of singer Heather Mac and guitarist Tim Parr, both of the 80s band, Ella Mental, Amber’s musical journey has taken her via Dublin, Cape Town and Indonesia, where she studied the traditional percussive style of Gamelan and produced a performance piece with fellow students for a major international festival.
Building up her experience on the open mic scene in London, busking at the People’s Park, Dublin and playing a residency in Dun Laoghaire, it’s hardly surprising that Amber has developed a distinctive and appealing sound encompassing folk, indie and progressive pop, thus proving popular with an increasingly wide following. Her band also features talented drummer, Dave Male and noted Leamington musician Carol Whitworth on bass and harmony vocals.

The line-up will be supported by two more local rising star acts – Alys Rain and Nowhere Club.
Alys Rain is a musical project by Coventry-based Izzy Hadlum who appears with Louis Scheuer to explore elements of dark folk through expert and intricate guitar picking, ethereal vocals and hypnotic rhythms.
Nowhere Club’s Adam Yarnall and Lewis Holmes describe themselves as ‘an acoustic-ish duo, playing jingly-jangly, twingly-twangly folky harmonies’, and have delighted folk club and theatre audiences with their set of original and unusual songs.

Right from the start, the evening promises a delightful and horizon-expanding experience from a talented generation of musicians from the folk scene and beyond.
Doors open 7pm for a 7.30 start and tickets are £11, available from the Box Office on 02476 998964, or pay on arrival.
