CVFolk News

Wes Finch and the Mechanicals

CVFolk, as set up five years ago has metamorphosised! The new improved version is now officially in place. They held the final AGM last week and wound up the Management Team, many of whom will still be involved as an advisory team. They are now part of the Albany Theatre and doing their bit to reach out to the community through performing arts.

Pete Willow says: “CVFolk still keeps its name, its website, its partnerships with MotoFest, Warwick Folk Festival and The Temperance, and its ‘Second Sunday’ monthly events in the Albany Theatre. But look out for news of additional events in the form of workshops (music, song, possibly dance) and masterclasses. Once the Albany Theatre has completed its refurbishment programme, we shall be making full use of the new facilities that will become available in the theatre building, from sessions in the bar to big name concerts in the Main House.”

Alkevan

Coming up: Alkevan plus After The Flood are joint headline acts for Sunday, 14 May in the Studio. The show opens with a set from talented Coventry trio Urban Fox, complete with lively traditional songs and powerful musical arrangements including twin fiddles.

11 June will see Wes Finch & Mechanicals. Fronted by vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Wes Finch and featuring the formidable musicianship of John Parker (double bass), Katrin Gilbert (viola) and Ben Haines (percussion), this highly acclaimed ensemble brings Shakespearean words and the works of various poets off the page and to life through vibrant melody and song.

Once again, it’s free admission but the band will be relying on your generosity to the Caddy Collection to eat! It starts at 7.30pm and blues singer and guitarist extraordinary, Jamie Scott supporting.
