Dick Whittington heads to the Priory Theatre

Dick Whittington, Priory Theatre, Kenilworth, from 20 December 2023 to 7 January 2024.

Tickets for The Priory Theatre, Kenilworth’s 2023-2034 pantomime, Dick Whittington, go on sale at 6pm, Friday 20 January 2023 – Oh yes they do!

The classic tale of Dick Whittington invites you to pack up your hanky and join daring Dick Whittington and his trusty cat on their quest for fame and fortune. Their magical rags to riches tale takes us on a journey to London where the streets are (apparently) paved with gold.

Our hero’s adventure takes him onto the High Seas, into battle with the evil King Rat and sees him fall head over heels in love with his best friend Alice. All the while the magical Bells are singing out his destiny – to become Mayor of London!

Full of fun, singing and all the action you’d expect from a Priory Panto – we promise to have you buzzing from a fantastic, festive night out.

Ben Sidaway who is part of the Technical and Marketing team at The Priory told Elementary WhatsOn that they announced the forthcoming panto to Aladdin audiences during the last Panto season, and expect Dick Whittington to be enormously popular. “I’ve been doing Panto since 2010 and we always sell out,” said Ben.

Ben also talked about the amount of work that goes into the production not just with the actors but the production team and those behind the scenes – amazingly which can number around 150 volunteers who give up their time to do a huge range of jobs in preparing for the show.

Ben continued, “There are parents and chaperones who look after the children in the Panto; there are the technical people, making sets and special effects; lighting, sound, costumes; people who run the bar – there’s so many different aspects to such a production.”

Ben pointed out that being a part of the team at the theatre is such an enjoyable and worthwhile thing to get involved with. He added, “The world has changed so much over the last few years, so to have a complete break from the stresses of life by coming along to the theatre is a wonderful thing. For the children especially with Panto, when you see the little faces of children – seeing them completely immersed in the experience of a pantomime and the theatre in general it’s an absolute joy.”

Dick Whittington Panto, The Priory Theatre, Kenilworth, runs from 20 December 2023 to 7 January 2024.
