Hello, Dolly! is a timeless Broadway classic that has been entertaining audiences for over five decades. With its upbeat tunes, colourful costumes, and captivating storyline, this musical is sure to leave you tapping your toes and humming the tunes long after the curtains close.

The show tells the story of Dolly Gallagher Levi, a matchmaker who sets her sights on the gruff and wealthy Horace Vandergelder. With the help of her cunning schemes and an ensemble of lovable characters, Dolly navigates through New York City to bring together the perfect couples and maybe even find a little romance of her own.

Featuring some of the most beloved songs in musical theatre history, including Put On Your Sunday Clothes, Before the Parade Passes By, and the unforgettable title track Hello, Dolly!, this production is a true masterpiece. The show has won a record-breaking 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and has been revived numerous times on Broadway, the West End and around the world.

Masqueraders get the giggles during rehearsals!

Director Mike Chappell had this to say: “Holy Cabooses, it’s all a bit busy over at St Paul’s Church in Stockingford, Nuneaton! That’s because this is where the Masqueraders Theatrical Society (known most often as MTS or simply Masqueraders) are hard at work rehearsing for their latest comedy musical, that wonderful classic, Hello Dolly!

“Due to be performed at Nuneaton’s wonderful Abbey Theatre nightly at 7:30pm from Wednesday the 8th to Saturday the 11th November (with a 2:30pm matinee on the Saturday) there isn’t a huge amount of time left before the 33 year old society is back on stage doing what they love (and do so well).

“Although the short amount of time left isn’t a worry, as scripts are down (words are learned), both acts have been blocked, dances set and the harmonies are already on point. This means that they’re already at the finessing and polishing phase, a feat is surprising but genuinely fantastic!”

Getting into step at rehearsals.

Mike Chappell continued: “With well-known numbers like Hello Dolly! made most famous by Louis Armstrong, When the Parade Passes By and Put on Your Sunday Clothes, it’s another one of those musicals where you’ll know a lot more of the songs than you thought you did.

“Your children might too, as Hello Dolly! was the music featured in Disney’s beautiful movie ‘Wall-E’ a few years back and – and whilst it’s still a comedy, it’s just that little bit more family friendly than their recent ‘Spamalot' so safe for little ones and grandparents too!”
