They're back! From Friday 6 to Sunday 15 September, Heritage Open Days are returning to Coventry while celebrating 30 years of events for all to enjoy.

Events will be free once again with more than 50 heritage venues participating, offering everything from historical tours and exhibitions to cycle rides and open parkland.

Heritage Open Days will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with this year’s theme, Routes - Networks - Connections. We will explore the routes, networks and connections that have helped to shape modern day Coventry and unveil the hidden stories and rich history of our city. Highlights of this years programme include:

  • Discover how history has influenced the modern day landscape and biodiversity at Coombe Abbey Park.

  • Hear the stories of the Windrush generation and their children at the Coventry Caribbean Association

  • Join medieval costumed locals at the Coventry Cross as they describe what it was like to pay host to royal visitors, their servants and their army!

  • Visit Holyhead Studios - originally the first Quakers 'friends meeting house', as well as serving as a rehearsal space for The Specials.

  • Experience historian Scott Duffin's 'The Coventry Collection,' featuring rare artefacts from the city’s past. Also, explore Rosie’s Retro Bazaar’s lively vintage and artisan market filled with unique treasures and souvenirs.

  • St Mary and All Saints Church in Fillongley will also be participating in this year’s event. From 10.30am - 4.30pm on 14-15 September, you are invited to explore this beautiful parish church. Nuneaton and North Warwickshire Family History Society will be in attendance to help with your research, along with bookstalls and refreshments.

  • From 8-12 September, Coventry Synagogue will be open for tours through this history steeped building. Coventry's only purpose built Synagogue and Rabbi's House has been in use since 1870, before being left, unwanted and rotting in approx. 1995. This usually private site will be open to the public for tours from 11am - 1pm daily. Spaces are limited.
