In its 39th year of inspiring young artists in Warwickshire and beyond, Playbox Theatre proudly announces its 2025 season—a kaleidoscope of performances, workshops, and international projects featuring over 1,500 talented young people.

February
STARRY NIGHTS: The season opens with this unmissable annual festival, showcasing moments from Playbox Theatre’s illustrious history as reimagined by the next generation of performers. A celebration of legacy and creativity.
SHAKESPEARE YOUNG COMPANY’S UNDERGROUND ADVENTURE: Explore the mystery and magic of Shakespeare’s nighttime scenes in the crypt of St Mary’s Church, a 14th-century marvel.
March & April
RESTORATION SEASON: Directed by Playbox Consultant and Founding Directors, Stewart McGill and Mary King, this is a season of frocks, wigs, and wit, featuring Wycherley’s The Country Wife and April De Angelis’ Playhouse Creatures. Experience the evocative essence of Restoration theatre in these repertory productions.
June
FUNAMBULO: Written by Playbox Director Izzie James, and directed by Artistic Director, Emily Quash, this circus-themed show from the Young Production Company dazzles with colour, magic, and imagination.
THE WHO’S TOMMY: An all-new production directed by Juliet Vankay, with Musical Direction by Rich Norris, this iconic rock musical will thrill audiences with a vibrant company and live band.
Summer
BLUE RIDER PRESENTS THE COMEDY OF ERRORS: The outdoor Phoenix Theatre becomes a playground for Shakespeare’s madcap comedy, which will also be performed in the Studio.
Autumn & Winter
GOODNIGHT MR TOM: Based on the beloved novel by Michelle Magorian, this tale of evacuation, growth and friendship will be staged by the Playbox Theatre actors across all ages.
ELECTRA: A bold and visceral new production by Artistic Director Emily Quash.
CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY: Playbox Theatre’s first full Christmas musical since The Wizard Of Oz in 2018, promises a deliciously magical festive treat.

Midsummer Tour to Tokyo: Playbox Theatre embarks on a series of residencies both in and around Tokyo, sharing their unique blend of performing arts disciplines through workshops, projects, and performances.
