School of Rock, Rugby Theatre, Rugby, 9 to 18 June 2023.

Preview by Rosie Fuller

The feel-good musical School of Rock opens at Rugby Theatre this Friday. Complete your education with these numbered fun facts about the production…

45 – cast members in total

Including Dewey the wannabe rockstar-turned-teacher, two teams of guitar-shredding pupils and plenty of uptight parents and teachers out to stop the fun

32 – banging musical numbers

Lots you might recognise from the 2003 blockbuster film, plus bonus songs written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Glenn Slater especially for the stage production

14 – chances to join the party

Running from 9-18 June with matinee performances across both weekends, it’s the longest run of shows Rugby Theatre has done for at least 10 years

7 – adult musicians

This is the traditional musical band in the pit, playing the numbers that don’t involve the school band

5 – sets of real-life parents / kids

And that’s just in the cast – there are more family connections behind the scenes. Make way for a new generation of performers…

4 – piece rock band on stage

Drums, keyboard, bass guitar and electric guitar, all played by talented youngsters aged 11-15… rock on!

3 – days until opening night (countdown is on!)

The ear-popping fun starts on Friday 9 June

2 – teams of hard rocking kids

Team Mount Rock and team Stick it to the Man, each with their own Dewey. Which will you choose?!

1 – feel-good musical extravaganza

Don't miss your chance to complete your education at the School of Rock!
