The excitement is rising as organisers of the Tanks, Trucks and Firepower Show get ready for another explosive Bank Holiday weekend. Organised by Andrew Baker of the Alvis Fighting Vehicle Society (AFVS) and his team, hundreds of tanks and military vehicles will soon be rumbling through the Warwickshire countryside to take their place at this action-packed family show.

Amongst the many awesome military vehicles will be The Challenger 1 Main Battle Tank, restored by Andrew and other members of the AFVS a few years ago. It will again be put through its paces creating a powerful spectacle as it travels at speed around the huge main arena.

If you know your tanks, you’ll probably be aware that the Gate Guard Restorations' Warrior will be making its debut appearance at Tanks, Trucks & Firepower. It joins the society’s two Warriors to create the biggest public display of Warriors that has ever been seen! Visitors will be able to see three variants of the Warrior, including the Warrior AIFV, the Warrior Recovery Vehicle and the prototype Warrior APC all together in the main arena.

The whole family of CVR(T)s will be on display, and not to be missed is the spectacular pyrotechnics event that accompanies two CVR(T)s driven by Andrew Baker and Mick Brown – at speed amid a stunning display of pyrotechnic explosions.

A host of exciting events take place on the huge live action main arena over the weekend, including the midday big guns, battle re-enactments, demonstrations by military recovery vehicles, driving demonstrations, tank rides and more with commentary by Our Tim.

In the vast show area you can get up close to all of these military vehicles and talk to the owners and restorers who have brought them back to their former glory. There will also be Jeeps, Land Rovers, classic cars, police cars, reconnaissance vehicles, rocket launchers, military vehicles from America, Germany and other countries; a WWII aircraft display; plus military helicopters will be taking off and landing, and military motorcycles will also be drawing in the crowds.

Twenty-four different re-enactment groups will be setting up camp – some of whom will be taking part in realistic re-enactments between British and German forces. And if you’ve ever wondered what life was like in the First World War trenches, the event promises to authentically re-create these scenes of life on the battlefields in those days.

A multitude of military themed stalls will be offering everything from army surplus to construction kits and models – and lots more besides. Activities especially for the kids promise entertainment and fun plus food and drink stalls, including a bar.

You could take a full Bank Holiday break by booking a camping or caravanning pitch and staying over to enjoy the atmosphere, the campfires and the fireworks.
