Coming soon in Autumn 2025: The Loft Youth Theatre Ensemble
For 50 years the Loft Theatre Company has hosted external youth theatre practitioners, but now, for the first time, it is excited to announce it will be launching its own brand-new youth ensemble for young creatives aged 7 to 17 to explore making theatre in all its forms. Two professional Masters graduates will be leading a growing team of professional practitioners skilled in many dimensions of theatre and performance.… and what better place to workshop and perform than in the only independent theatre in the town!
It will be called The Loft Youth Theatre Ensemble and is an exciting opportunity for young people with an interest in theatre arts to explore performance techniques and theatre skills with industry professionals.
Founded by movement director Dan Walsh and actor and performance artist Laura Hayward-Smith, young people will be invited along to a series of weekly workshops led by a team of specialist practitioners designed to boost artistic and social confidence.
Commenting on this new venture, Sue Moore, Artistic Director of The Loft Theatre, remarked, “Theatre is potent and has the power to shape development in the young in profound and lasting ways.”
The Loft has an ambition to encourage a passion for the performing arts and a love of live performance and social engagement for the next generation of theatre lovers.
Weekly workshops will serve as a valuable way for young people to express themselves through an impressive range of skills that can be used on and off stage.
Workshop facilitators and assistants will support members in exploring their strengths within a kind and caring collective. They will be encouraged to discover personal attributes and build on a range of invaluable life skills.
The groups will be small but the experience large, as the ensemble will be guided through a range of activities that will offer them a chance to pursue the creation of theatre in all its forms through empathy, fun, friendship, teamwork, and play.
The Loft Youth Theatre Ensemble will be officially launched in September 2025.
Workshops will be every Saturday morning during term time at The Loft Theatre, Victoria Colonnade, Leamington Spa CV31 3AA in The Studio.
Free taster sessions are available in May and June, and there will be a summer holiday camp in mid-August.
The full term will then commence in September 2025.
